Sales Engineer

Are you a sales engineer or retail systems integrator with the ability to address retailer’s technology and process issues, assess customer IT infrastructure and determine the technology needed to insure customer adoption of the proposed solution?
We are seeking a versatile and business-oriented technical sales consultant with experience developing business opportunities, building customer solution mapping, establishing C-level relationships with the customer’s technical leadership and working closely with the customer-facing teams. The primary objectives of this position are to deliver customer integrations and deployments according to specifications, on time and on budget, to grow revenue and customer satisfaction.
As a sales engineer, you will partner with the Account Executives in planning and prioritizing opportunities for best productivity and efficiency. You will manage the technical engagements and be the link between management, development and customer. Occasional travel to trade shows and to meet with customers is required. This position has flexible work hours and is suitable for remote work. We work as a team and have fun together!

Your Key Responsibilities

  • jointly create, manage and execute integration and deployment plans side by side with the Account Executives
  • take pre-sale technical / integration calls w/ customer’s tech team
  • attend and present at customer meetings and internal sessions with other company functions, as necessary
  • generate notes / specify needs and document processes for the integration
  • engage Product Management and Development in opportunities after forming a clear solution plan.
  • create and maintain demo and live locations for clients with existing active admin tools and augment these tools as well as the documentation as needed
  • work with clients to exchange accurate data between systems
  • communicate and report internally on opportunity and project statusIdentify, research and resolve operational and technical problems
  • Influence product development and enhancements using gathered intelligence to enhance internal practices and processes.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in pre-sales/customer-facing/technical roles
  • 3 years of experience in Retail industry
  • Experience working with large retailers as a service provider, software provider or consultant.
  • Project management experience
  • Software development experience is a major plus:
  • Ruby / Ruby on Rails / ActiveAdmin
  • Experience with technical sales and integration of POS, ERP and other store systems is a major plus

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
  • Familiar with AWS products, e.g. external resources and data flows on S3, data/connection architecture
  • Ruby on Rails and Active Admin knowledge is a plus
  • Self-motivated & self-driven; motivated by passion for the industry and products

Full-stack Ember.js + Rails developer

Our Engineering team is in need of a full-time developer with experience building out Ember.js applications and Rails APIs. As a member of our team, you would have the opportunity to work on any number of the following:

  • Mobile Checkout (our shopper-facing iOS / Android app built with Ember.js and Cordova)
  • FutureProof Platform Apps (a suite of merchant/retailer-facing applications, built in Ember.js)
  • Rails APIs for the various apps (including some JSON API)
  • Improving tooling and infrastructure for managing merchants and locations
  • Integrations with proprietary payment / inventory systems
  • Firmware for our on-site IoT hardware

Relevant skill sets:

  • (required) Strong Rails experience
  • (required) Strong Ember.js experience
  • (required) Experience writing and maintaining automated tests
  • Experience with cloud-based hosting, particularly Heroku
  • Experience building hybrid mobile apps (WebView apps, e.g. Cordova)
  • (nice-to-have) Experience building retail/e-commerce applications
  • (nice-to-have) Experience building WebSocket-heavy, push-centric applications

Our office is located in New York, NY. We would prefer a local hire but are open to remote work as well.
